A Note From Helen's Kitchen
The last time I was in Kitchen Fantasy
I saw two very nice Fondue Pots and a Melting Pot ! With the holiday
season upon us, this is like finding gold ! I was unaware that fondue
was back in fashion, but I can't think of a single kitchen gadget that
comes in any handier for entertaining. For small dinner parties, open
house or just for something special for the family this attractive
server is wonderful ! ( You can find pictures on Ernie's web page
under "Products". They are even more attractive than they
look in the pictures. )
The number of ways to use a Fondue Pot
is limited only by your imagination, and the number of recipes you
have on hand ! You can use very complex recipes or extremely simple
ones. For instance: place one can of chili ( no beans ) and cubed
pieces of a good melting cheese in the pot with the burner lit and
stir as the cheese melts until well mixed. Serve with tortilla chips.
You just made Chili con Queso ! Or you could use your own recipe for
homemade chili instead of the canned. See what I mean ?
How about this, break up pieces
of good chocolate into small pieces. Place in melting pot
with enough whipping cream to cover. Light the pot, and stir
occasionally as the chocolate melts. When the chocolate and cream are
blended serve with pieces of fruit, or cake, or sugar cookies, or
whatever strikes your fancy !
Or, grate your favorite cheese (
or cheeses) add cream and melt, stirring as needed. Serve with veggies
that have been cut into serving size pieces or chips. Try adding herbs
( like cilantro ) and, ( or ) spices, like chili powder and some
garlic powder. Yummy !
For a busy hostess, this is a real help
as it takes only a small amount of time and attention to put
together something really special. If this is something you haven't
tried yet, I hope you will give it a try. I think you will love it !
Until next time, ( when I plan to pass
on some more entertaining tips )
